Liverpool lads Zac Fitzsimmons and Tony Burns are two of the most industrious producers in the business, pumping out Matrefakt releases on Shall Not Fade, Edible, Of Unsound Mind, Circus, Trick and their own Attitude to Life label over the past few years. 'Burn' EP, Matrefakt’s third release for Anja Schneider’s Sous Music, finds the pair in characteristic fine form.

The title track hits the ground running, announcing itself with a wallopping kick, tickling hi-hats and a juddering bassline that guides the listener towards a festival-ready confection of hypnotic bleeps and chunky beats.

'Rock' takes on a vaguely tribal flavour with circular drum patterns designed to move hips, snatched vocal samples and delicious guitar licks invoking the funk of millennium-era French touch.

They change tack again on 'Crystal', which oscillates between big-room techno and Moroder-esque space disco to dramatic effect. It’s darker than the previous two cuts, perfect for soundtracking early morning journeys inward and again demonstrating Matrefakt’s remarkable range.

Venezuelan-born, Colombian-based producer Confidential Recipe (Rekids) turns in an eyes-down remix of 'Burn', stripping the bassline out of the original to create a more intense afterhours energy.

Hot off the back of a recent appearance at Creamfields, Matrefakt’s Watergate debut in March and mixes for Peggy Gou’s Gudu Records and Sarah Story’s Future Dance show on BBC Radio1, Matrefakt are poised for the big time.

Of their latest release on Sous, the duo say, “the label is really becoming a home for us and we are made to feel so welcome by everyone every time. We are also really happy to have Confidential Recipe on the remix for this release, we know Anja is a big fan of what he does and we are too!”

Sous is delighted to present the latest package of bonafide bangers from these stars in the making.
